Community Notification

FilmL.A., Inc. has assumed the responsibility for notification at all locations for which we coordinate permits in order to offer neighborhoods consistent and timely notice of filming, and to afford communities a centralized concern/complaint resolution process.  Notification is required for every film location.

FilmL.A.’s goal is that all neighbors (residences/merchants/businesses) affected by the filming be notified at least 2 days before any activity takes place at the location. This includes any substantial prep work that requires more than one large equipment vehicle parked on the street.

FilmL.A. employs a team of experienced notification personnel, many of whom are bilingual. They work hard to distribute FilmL.A., Inc.'s familiar door hangers to every neighbor within 500 feet of the filming activity and within 200 feet of production-related parking. Exceptional activities like gunfire, explosions or helicopter work often require that we notify a larger radius, depending upon the extent of the activities requested. Merchant areas are notified during business hours and generally receive a letter instead of a door hanger. We also fax and/or e-mail building managers, businesses and community representatives that request notification in this form. We strive constantly to develop improved methods for notifying dense, inaccessible and hard-to-reach areas.

The notification contains all the relevant information about the production's activities and personnel so that neighbors can plan for the event and contact the company to ask questions or resolve minor concerns. The form also contains FilmL.A.’s contact information and our 24-hour telephone number so that citizens may contact us with any questions, problems or complaints.
