Neighborhood Surveys

ABOUT NEIGHBORHOOD SURVEYS

Standard production days are Monday through Friday and the normal hours of film activity are from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The hours noted on every film permit specify arrival and departure times. Any activity, even a truck idling, outside of normal production hours usually requires that affected residents be surveyed to identify specific concerns or problems with the proposed activities.

Surveys may also be required for weekend filming in residential areas, or when filming at a location for an extended length of time.

Street closures, activities that will prevent merchants from opening their shops, and exceptional production activities such as gunfire, explosions and aerial work may also generate a survey to identify issues and concerns about the proposed activity and related impacts.

FilmL.A. does not provide survey services but does require that surveys are performed with specific forms.  Typically, a production company will have its staff go door-to-door in the affected area and collect the surrounding neighbors' specific concerns (for instance, "I am disabled, and need to park in front of my home" or "I’m having a wedding party on Thursday night"). Once surveys are returned to FilmL.A., Inc., we will then work with both the production company and concerned neighbors to address relevant issues.

To download Parking and Survey Forms, please seek them in the Form Center.
