After months of research and evaluation, FilmL.A. will implement a revised fee schedule for new film permit applications received on or after August 1, 2016.
The new schedule will raise FilmL.A. fees for permit coordination and related services for the first time since 2008. The new rates were adopted in June by the FilmL.A. Board of Directors as part of the organization’s FY’17 budget.
As a not-for-profit, economic development organization, FilmL.A.’s policy is to avoid fee increases whenever possible, and minimize fee increases when they are necessary. The forthcoming increases will offset the rising cost of providing film permit coordination and related services to our entertainment industry customers, local government clients and community partners.

- One Stop Permit Processing & Production Planning Assistance
- Comprehensive Community Relations, Including Neighborhood Notification & Monitoring
- Technology Investments, Including the Online Permit System (OPS) and LocoScoutTM
- 24/7 Filming Complaint Referral and Resolution
- Marketing Greater Los Angeles as a Premier Production Location
- Film Economy Research, Data Collection & Dissemination
- Advocating for Sensible Film Policy at the State and Local Level
Considerable research was conducted over the past year to inform this change in pricing. FilmL.A.’s new rates are set well below the overall increase in consumer prices over the last eight years. The new rates are also set below the average regional rate for like services, keeping FilmL.A. and its client jurisdictions cost-competitive within the Greater Los Angeles Region.
