Jodi Strong, FilmL.A.’s Director of Production Planning and New Business, is a familiar name and face for many of our production industry customers. But, were it not for a unique turn of events, Jodi might be better known by apparel industry insiders instead.
A Montana native, Jodi moved to L.A. to enter a buyers’ training program for a major department store chain. Deciding to answer a job posting in 1995 when the City and County of Los Angeles merged and privatized their respective film permit offices, Jodi was the tenth employee hired by the organization that became FilmL.A.
Initially one of two outer office staff responsible for answering phones and greeting customers, Jodi knew immediately she wanted to coordinate permits. Within a month after she was hired she was promoted to production coordinator and has since assumed various new responsibilities, holding jobs as senior production coordinator, director of operations and director of field services and permit operations.
Currently, she oversees the Production Planning Department, which advises production companies on the rules and procedures that may apply within the various jurisdictions we serve and helps filmmakers navigate a range of pre-permit location issues.
“I love what I do,” Jodi said. “Our Production Planning team members must be intimately knowledgeable about a dizzying array of jurisdiction and community guidelines. Stopping by a film set and knowing that our hard work has made that shoot possible is really rewarding.”
Jodi is an avid kick-boxer, is currently involved with a fitness “boot camp” and lives in West Los Angeles.
